John Wayne

lyrics

Hello...I'm here...at last
To tell you a story about my almost glorious past
As a kid I wanted respect while my dad did cocaine
TV raised me to grow up expecting the same

But I watched old westerns and wanted to be John Wayne
To do this I knew this would be life learning pain

At fifteen I tried to break from from the chains of despair
For fifteen long years my life held my life up in the air
I did what I did 'cause I did it when I didn't care
But tragic was magic and I learned from life unaware

But I watched all those westerns and thought that I was John Wayne
Truth is I knew I was more like Doc Holliday

Hello...I'm here...at last
I've learned from mistakes what it takes to get past my past
As as man I do what I can do to stay on the path
Once there was some madness then some sadness now some happiness lasts

I still love old westerns and I quit playing cards but I deal
You don't know my name it isn't John Wayne

It's Joe Bill
